Tomb Raider’s 25th anniversary may be over a year away but New Zealand-based design studio Weta Workshop has already announced that it will be paying homage to the beloved video game franchise and its iconic heroine in the form of a brand new 1:4 scale statue.
The new statue was teased during Weta Workshop’s Comic-Con at Home event and shows Lara Croft dealing with a pesky velociraptor. Modelled after Lara’s appearance in the 2007 game Tomb Raider: Anniversary, the full sculpt will be unveiled in October 2020 and is set to be a highly sought-after collectable. Will a formidable Tyrannosaurus also be included in the final sculpt? After all, Lara does have an extensive history with these creatures…
Weta Workshop has created a number of Tomb Raider-themed collectables in the past, including a prop replica of Lara Croft’s bow from Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the stunning Lara Croft: Queen of the Jungle limited edition polystone statue.
At the time of writing, there was no information about an estimated release date or price but if the Queen of the Jungle statue is any indication, fans can expect to be set back around $800 (plus shipping and customs fees). So if you have your heart set on adding this new statue to your collection, it’s time to start saving up!
